Join the Charity Race to End Alzheimer’s at K1 Speed Toronto!
September 10, 2019
Be a racer with a cause this month at K1 Speed Toronto when we host the Race to End Alzheimer’s Charity Go Kart race on Saturday, September 14 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm!
All funds we raise during the event will be donated to the Baycrest Foundation to aid their tremendous Alzheimer’s research and treatment efforts. And that’s not all – every dollar raised will be matched by the terrific sponsors who have jumped on board, doubling the total amount!
Information about this Charity Event in Toronto
Starting at 12pm, racers who are 4’10 or taller are encouraged to set the fastest lap time they can around the indoor Toronto track. The drivers that set the 10 fastest laps of the day will qualify for the R2endALZ Race at 5:00pm. We’re expecting a great turnout for this, so be sure to arrive early and set that fast lap time!
The main race will consist of a 14-lap standing start positional grand finale race for glory. The cost to participate in the main event is only $30 (a donation in itself), and participants will compete for thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes!
The Prizes
Every qualifier will receive some amazing swag from K1 Speed and the sponsors of the event, so no competitor will leave empty handed. The top three finishers will receive prize packs worth hundreds of dollars each:
1st Place
- 2 tickets + VIP Experience at the 2020 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Race ($250 value)
- Goodwood Kartways 2020 CRKC Membership + 25 Laps ($150 value)

Activities for the Whole Family!
Of course, our indoor go kart racing will be the main attraction. But there’ll be plenty of other activities for the whole family to enjoy!
We’ll have games, contests and activities for junior racers, plus a raffle and bake sale. Again, all proceeds from these side activities will be going to fight Alzheimer’s!
Why We’re Racing to End Alzheimer’s
According to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, the number of Canadians with dementia is increasing dramatically. Over half a million Canadians currently live with it, and there’s around 25,000 new cases that are diagnosed each year. This means many of us have unfortunately experienced this terrible disease first-hand with loved ones and friends, like the Demaras family has.
For avid followers of K1 Speed Canada, the Demaras name should be familiar. Daniel Demaras, age 15, is a regular contributor to this blog and a rising karting star. He represented our country well at the very first K1 Speed e-World Championship earlier this year, finishing third in the elite competition.
When Daniel saw the Racing to End Alzheimer’s logo on James Vance’s Audi RS3 LMS during this year’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, he realized there was something special there that he had to a part of. Vance in turn introduced Daniel to Phil Frengs, the founder of Racing to End Alzheimer’s. It didn’t take long for Daniel to join the “R2endALZ” team.
Racing to End Alzheimer’s has a 2019 fundraising goal of $150,000 – Daniel’s trying to raise one percent of that goal himself. So far, he’s been able to raise $645 in just a single afternoon at a previous event. It’s down to racers like you to carry him over the finish line on September 14.
Want to Donate but Can’t Make It?
If you would love to go to this event to donate but already have plans that day, don’t worry. You can still help the cause!
