Race For The Throne - Wednesday, January 29th in Toronto
20 Racers – 3 Races – 1 Crown
20 People bracket style tournament
Adult racers only (14+)
3 Races guaranteed, 4 max
$80 + Tax is the cost to register
Race Format:
Two groups of 10 (split into groups A & B)
Participants will enter a draw to determine which group they will be in. They will stay in this same group for Rounds 1 to 3.
Round 1:
- 10 Lap Qualifier (time-based result)
- All 20 racers will participate in this round (10 people per heat)
- Racers will only be competing against those who are in their race group for Round 1
- Qualifying standard will be based on best lap time
- Racer’s qualifying result will determine their starting position for Round 2
Round 2:
- 12 Lap Final (positional race)
- All 20 racers will participate in this round (10 people per heat–same groups as Round 1)
- Racers’ starting position will be based on their qualifying times from Round 1
- Points will be issued in this round to each individual based on finishing position in this race
- 1st = 10pts
- 2nd = 9pts
- 3rd = 8pts
- 4th = 7pts etc
Round 3:
- 12 Lap Final (positional race–inverse grid)
- All 20 racers will participate in this round (10 people per heat–same groups as Round 1&2)
- Racers’ starting position will be based on the Inverse Grid of Round 2 (ie: racer who started in 1st spot in Round 2 will now start in 10th spot in Round 3, etc…)
- Points will be issued in this round to each individual based on finishing position in this race
- 1st = 10pts
- 2nd = 9pts
- 3rd = 8pts
- 4th = 7pts etc
Round 4:
- We will add the points earned from Rounds 2 & 3, and the Top 10 overall points earners will advance to Race For The Throne.
- Any tie in points will be broken by the racer with the best lap time
- 12 Lap Final (positional race)
- Starting position for this race will be based on points accrued from Rounds 2 & 3 (ie: top points earner starts P1)
- First to cross the finish line after 12 laps will be crowned our Race For The Throne Champion!
*Competitive races are run like league races, and you earn points based on the finishing position of each race, starting with 10pts for first place
Winner
The winner gets a crown, a royal cape as they are crowned on the throne.
Each winner of the Race For The Throne event in the calendar year 2024 will participate in a "last chance" wildcard qualification race for the 2024 K1 Speed Canadian Championships. Every Throne winner who does not already meet the qualification standards will participate in a one-off race for the final spot in the Canadian Championship.
