K1 Speed Canadian Championship
Are you the fastest racer on the track? Now is your time to prove it. We’re looking to crown our 2024 Canadian karting champion. Qualification for the 2024 K1 Speed Canadian Championship begins now!
The Canadian Championship is a one-day tournament held annually. The tournament will follow our K1NG of Speed tournament format to ensure an equal playing field for all participants.
The top 15 racers with the highest K1RS points by the end of the year will be invited to compete in the K1 Speed Canadian Championship tournament. The winner will be crowned the Canadian Champion. Points are collected from January 1st – December 31st. Racers must collect a minimum number of K1RS points with their division to qualify for the championship tournament.
Adult Division
The Adult division is for racers 18+ years old. The top 15 racers with over 4000 K1RS points in the calendar year will qualify for the Canadian Championship tournament. The top 3 finishers will receive prizes of $3000, $1500, and $500, respectively.
Teen Division
The Teen division is for racers ages 13-17 who race in adult karts. The top 8 racers with over 2500 K1RS points in the calendar year will qualify for the Canadian Championship tournament. The top 3 finishers will receive prizes of $1000, $500, and $250, respectively.
Junior Division
The Junior division is for racers ages 8-12 who race in the junior karts. The top 8 racers with over 2500 K1RS points in the calendar year will qualify for the Canadian Championship tournament. The top 3 finishers will receive prizes of $1000, $500, and $250, respectively.
Wild Card
Are you racing Royalty? Participate and win a Race For The Throne in 2024 for a "last chance" wildcard qualification race for the 2024 K1 Speed Canadian Championships. Every Throne winner who does not already meet the Adult Division qualification standards will participate in a one-off race for the final spot in the Canadian Championship.
Qualifying
How do you collect K1RS points?
Show up and race! Every new racer starts with 1,200 points. You earn 2 points for racing in a race, and 2 points for every racer that you beat in that race. In addition, you will earn 2 bonus points if you have the single best lap time, and 2 bonus points for having the best average lap time. The more you race and the more skilled you are at go-kart racing, the more points you will earn.
Prizing
The K1 Speed Canadian Champion will win a grand prize for $3,000, along with some serious karting bragging rights.

Karting Tournament Requirements + Important Information
- Participants must be 18+ for the Adult division, 13-17 years old and racing in adult karts for the Teen division, and 8-12 years old and racing in junior karts for the Junior division. They must not be an employee of K1 Speed, or the relative of an employee at K1 Speed at any time during the qualifying year.
- For the Adult Division, participants must possess at least 4000 K1RS points by end of year
- For the Teen and Junior Division, participants must possess at least 2,500 K1RS points by the end of the year.
- All qualified racers are invited to the Canadian Championship Final at a K1 Speed Canada location to compete for the title of Canadian Champion
- Adult Cash Prizes: $3,000 for Canadian Champion, $1,500 for runner-up, and $500 for third place
- Teen Cash Prizes: $1,000 for Canadian Champion, $500 for runner-up, and $250 for third place
- Junior Cash Prizes: $1,000 for Canadian Champion, $500 for runner-up, and $250 for third place
Every Race for the Throne tournament winner who does not already meet the Adult Division qualification standards will participate in a one-off race for the final spot in the Canadian Championship.
